Good morning, dear judges.
I am Shao Ye from Langxi primary school,,it's my great honor to be here to share my presentation with you. Today my topic is Unit 4 what can you do?Well,i'm going to introduce my lesson from following parts:
First of all, let me talk about the teaching background, the topic I'm going to talk about is period 2 of unit4 “what can you do?”, PEP primary school student book 5 .And the main idea of this lesson is about some recreational sports and activities and talking about what students can do ,after learning this ,students can talk about their hobbies with each other,so that their listening and speaking abilities can be improved.
After analysis of teaching material, let me talk about my students, students in grade 5. They are very active and interested in new things,and they have learned English for 2 years,what,most of them are not confident to open their mouth and express themselves,therefore,i will arrange more interesting activities to provide
more chances to speak English.
According to the new curriculum standards,I set the teaching aims as follows:No.1 knowledge aims :it is to enable the students to master the new words and phrases as well as sentence patterns like: what can you do? I can ......
No.2 Abilities aims:students can talk about their own abilities freely .
And the last one emotional aim:students can cultivate more hobbies in their spare time and enjoy communicating with each other.
Well, according to the new curriculum standards and analysis of teaching material,I make the key points and difficult points as follows:
The key points are able to express words, phrases and sentences patterns “what can you do ?i can ...”. While the difficult points are applying the new sentences into daily life.
And in this lesson I will mainly use task-based teaching method communicative teaching method, and TPR teaching method ,That is to say ,all the methods are used to help students focus on my class ,at the same time ,i will try my best to help kids to have a better understanding of this lesson .
Well, after all analysis above, here comes the most important part:teaching procedures, and I will design them as follows:
Step 1: warm-up
Firstly i will greet class as usual in order to provide them an English learning atmosphere, then i’d like to let them enjoy a chant named “what can you do ”, after that, i will review the knowledge by saying the words and Ss need to act the phrases out by their body language.
chant is a good way to attract Ss’s attention to the new class .and this chant is so related to today’s topic, and lay a good foundation for the following steps.
Step 2.Preview
In the step, we will have a competition named “THE BEST PARTNER”, two students will work in pairs and stand back to back, one of them ask”what can you do ? and the other student do the actions, then the student who asked the question need to guess the action out, if the actions corresponds to the answer, it shows that they have the best friendship,they are “the best partner”! and i will give them some nice gifts as the prize.
Competitive game can help students review the knowledge and focus on my class, in addition,it can cultivate the spirit of cooperation.
Step 2: Presentation.
First ,let’s focus on let’s talk .
At the beginning of my presentation ,i will show a calendar ,and say to my students,“it’s Monday today”,then i turn over another page and say“Next day is Tuesday”,so the new word”next” will be taught. Then i will show a picture of a Christmas party, and say to them again”Look, this is a party, the party is wonderful !” the word party and wonderful are taught like this.
The words led out by Calendar and map can give students the most immediate sensory stimulation, and they can understand the meaning of the new words easily!
Well ,after the new words,let’s move to the conversation!
Here i will show the picture of the this dialogue and we can see zhangpeng and john are doing something, then “what can Zhangpeng do? what can john do?” will be asked by me, Ss need to answer the questions according to the picture. Zhangpeng can sing English and John can do some kung fu.
Later,i will introduce the background of this conversation . “there will be an English party,Miss White is talking with her students,what can the students do for the party?” then Ss listen to the tape and imitate the pronunciation .
Next some questions will be presented on the blackboard
1.when will they have an English party?
2.What can zhangpeng do for the party?
3.What can john do for the party?
Ss will listen again to find out the answers to the questions.
After that,i will check the answers with them and show them on the blackboard.
Step 3.practice.
in this part,3 students will be divided into several groups to act out the conversation using their masks,then i will invite some groups to show their performance on the stage, Then some students will be invited to give an evaluation about their performance ,no matter how they perform I will always give them a very positive evaluation like “super, super, you are super!”
Well, next we will do some practice by using “what can you do?
Students need to work in pairs to ask and answer , and i will invite some of them to show it.
We all know practice makes perfect so that students can remember the knowledge successfully.
Ok,let’s move on to Let’s try!
I will play the video for 2 times to make sure the students can tick the right answers ,and check the answer with them.
Listening part seems to be one of the difficult tasks to students, so I will try to make students understand the content and have a good seanse of understanding English.
Step 4: consolidation .
In this part,we will have an interesting activity named “talent competition”,i am the interviewer, and i will invite some students to show their talents, before their performances, a question will be asked to all of them”what can you do”,Ss need to answer: I can dance/draw cartoons......then i will say “are you ready for your performance?,” and they say “yes!”
After all the performances, i will choose some of them and say to them:“Great! you are wonderful !”
As we all know ,games and activities are regarded as one of the most effective ways to inspire students interests ,through the competition, students can use the language into reality and make it practical.
Step 5: summary and homework.
In this lesson, students will master new words and sentence patterns ,and i will encourage Ss to follow their hoobies to learn more talents.
And we will do a survey about our classmates’ talents as our homework today.
The last one is blackboard design . I'll write the new words new sentences on the blackboard, let students know what the important part is so that they can have a better understanding of this lesson
As the statement of new curriculum standards, students of grade 5 should be able to make simply daily communication of using the new language. Students will be inspired by doing some activities ,and they will be encouraged during my class,i am sure they will be totally fond of this class, that's all my lesson, thank you for listening.
