教学目标

1.Language competence:

Students can get the main ideas of the passage and they need to find out the commons between the talent persons and be clear about the different opinions on talent shows.

2.Culture awareness:

Students need to learn that “God help those who help themselves.” And they can be much positive to find out their own talents.

3.Thinking quality:

Students can develop their critical thinking and inventive thinking about this topic.

4.Learning ability:

Students need to improve their speaking ability and reading ability,so that they can be easy to find out the main ideas and meanings of passage when they are reading in the future.

教学重点

Students can know the content of passage and find out the main idea of this passage.

教学难点

Students can master the usage of superlative and new phrases,such as have in common,be up to...,play a role in and so on.

教学过程及设计意图

一、新课导入

1.Greeting.

2.To show off a talent show and introduce a magician to lead in the most talented person.

Work in pairs:

(To review the most talented performers we have learned last class.)

A:Who is the most talented person you know?

B:I think Elisa/Vera/Steve ... is the most talented person.

C:What can he/she do?

D:She/He can...

3.Lead into the topic of the passage.

Nowadays.Talent shows are becoming more and more popular.

What other shows do you know?

Do you want to know more about talent shows?

【设计意图】通过魔术表演和回顾上节课知识的方式引入新课话题,围绕大单元教学,明确课文主题,为后续学习做好铺垫。

二、课堂探究

Step1.Before reading.

Try to analyse the title.

Try to guess the general idea of the passage.

【设计意图】分析解读标题,根据图片和标题找出文章的主要相关信息,培养学生深度理解标题,根据图片猜测信息的能力。

Step2.Fast reading.

1.Read fast and match the main idea of each paragraph.

2.Check answers in class.

【设计意图】速读把握段落主旨句,快速找出每段段落大意,培养学生略读寻找信息的能力。

Step3.Careful reading.

1.Read the paragraph 1 and try to find out the shows.

Which three shows are mentioned?

Check answers in class.

Try to help students know more about America’s Got Talent.

2.Read the paragraph 2 and find out the information about the talent shows.

What do they have in common? .

Who decides the winner?

Check answers in class.

3.Read the paragraph 3 and find out the answers.

Does everyone enjoy watching them?

Why do some people like the shows?

Why do some people not like the shows?

Check answers in class.

4.After reading, students try to express their own opinions and the teacher encourages them.

What do you think of these shows?

If you’re talented,do you want to join the talent shows?What can you do?

If you have a dream,just do it to let your dream fly high. Please remember. There must be a use for my talent.

5.Listen and underline the superlatives in the passage.

6.Reading Time. Let students read the passage loudly.

7.Choose the students to read and correct the pronunciation.
